How to Maintain your Hot Water Heater
Regular Flushing
Sediment build’s up at the tank’s bottom over time, interfering with proper heat distribution, which negatively impacts heating components.
Periodically flushing the tank helps remove sediment and keep it clean.
Maintain the Anode Rod
Water tanks contain an anode rod of sacrificial metal, which attracts minerals, like calcium, to it’s surface. These rods are meant to corrode instead of the tank, so need to be inspected for significant wear and replaced if they are depleted (3-5 years on average).
